Need Some Inspiration? 15 Writing Prompts To Help You Get Unstuck

Do you have a book that you have been writing for days…no months…maybe even years, that you have just left because you have lost all interest, ideas, and inspiration?

Over the last few months I have decided to start a Word War Two novel.  And as I started that novel, I have figured out what it means to have writers block.  I am now on my third try with the novel and still on only paragraph one at that. 😦  But I will get there, (at least I hope I will). 🙂

So, today I am going to give you FIFTEEN writing prompts to help you get out of the deep, dark hole of writers block.

Hope you enjoy and let’s get on to our inspiration!

1.  The rain pounds down giving no mercy.  You have your windshield wipers on full blast and squint to be able to see out the window.  You see a big bridge coming up in front of you and don’t notice the car pile-up in the middle of the bridge until it is too late.  You swerve in panic and hit the bridge railing.  But to your horror the railing breaks under the pressure of you car and you feel nothing but air under your car as gravity pushes you towards the ground at break neck speed…

2. “Do you remember me?”  You swivel around at the sound of the voice behind you and your heart goes into your throat when you see who’s there…

3.  Tell a story of an unbreakable friendship that has to go through great odds to survive.

4. Princes, princesses, kings, queens, dragons, evil leaders…are you inspired yet?

5. A scream fills the night air as you feel yourself slipping.  You reach around frantically until your hand come in contact with a rock.  You grab on with all your worth.  You breath a deep sigh of relief.  But then you realize that you can’t hold on forever…

6. It is pitch black and you are walking from your garage to your house.  But an uneasy feeling fills you, and you feel like you are being watched.  You start running for the house and someone starts running behind you…

7. It is a perfect day for a bike ride…or so you thought.  Breathing hard you crest the hill and start downwards.  Feeling like you are going a little fast ,you put pressure on the breaks, but nothing happens…

8. You wake up with a start and look at your clock.  It is midnight.  What startled you awake? Then, you here it again.  The unmistakable sound of footsteps in your kitchen..

9. A meteor starts crashing towards earth.  If it hits earth it could destroy over half of the planet.  Only you can stop it!

10. A girl, a horse, the woods, a mountain lion, pitch dark.  Do you see it?

The last five prompts I’m going to do with pictures.  It is amazing how much inspiration you can get from the right picture.
